Procedures for Dental Care
Treatment is needed by whom?
“Patients may require various dental procedures … if they are dealing with tooth decay, tooth damage, or gum disease.”
Fillings for teeth
“… dentists may also utilize fillings to repair teeth that are cracked, broken, or otherwise damaged.”
Procedures for Dental Crowns and Root Canals
Dental crowns, also known as "caps," are used to protect and repair damaged or weak teeth. They can be made of different materials, such as metal or porcelain, and are used to enhance or restore a tooth's shape, size, strength, and appearance. Dental crowns can also help hold damaged teeth together and support teeth with large fillings when there is little natural tooth left. Dentists may use dental crowns to keep bridges in place, cover dental implants, or disguise misshapen or discolored teeth. The process of getting a dental crown typically requires two office visits, during which the dentist will take X-rays, impressions, or scans to ensure a proper fit.
If the pulp of a patient's tooth is inflamed or infected, they may need root canal treatment. This inflammation or infection can be caused by deep decay, excessive dental procedures, faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth. Sometimes, a tooth can undergo trauma without any visible damage. Root canal treatment involves removing the inflamed or infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and filling and sealing the remaining space. The tooth is then restored with a crown or filling to protect it and allow it to function like a natural tooth.

Root Scaling and Planing & Tooth Replacement
Replacing missing teeth goes beyond just appearance. Gaps between teeth can impact speech, eating, bite, and facial appearance. There are various reasons for tooth loss, such as trauma, decay, or genetic conditions. Fortunately, there are effective replacement options available, including dental implants, fixed dental bridges, and removable partial dentures. Our team works closely with patients to determine the best tooth replacement option for them.
Untreated gum disease can lead to tooth loss. Early detection is crucial in treating this condition. If the disease has not yet affected the structures below the gum line, a root scaling and planing (deep tooth cleaning) may be able to reverse its effects. This procedure involves removing plaque and tartar above and below the gum line, and smoothing out the teeth roots to help the gums reattach to the teeth.
